The STUNNING & Brilliantly Designed 18th Century Teak Wing Back Chairs by RESTORATION HARDWARE

Restoration Hardware 18th Cent Outdoor Teak Wingback

The 18th C. Teak Wingback Chair by Restoration Hardware

I simply ADORE how this piece is a mix of utilitarian object and conceptual Art.  It takes a Design classic that truly is iconic and takes it out of its normal context, making you think about it both in a sculptural way as well as in a garden Design aesthetic manner.  Its traditional lines and character are spun upside down by its usage outdoors and that it is crafted of solid teak (perfect for its exterior usage).  It is stunning, useful and totally unexpected… a powerful combination for a garden Design.  Restoration Hardware borrowed the iconic silhouette of an 18th-century wing back chair to create an uncommon and regal seating for the outdoors.  I would love to see a pair of these on either end of an oversized outdoor dining table, 4 of them around a low table for animated conversations and wine or 2 in the distance for private tete-a-tetes.  The 18th Century Wing Back Chair is crafted from solid teak, with a high camel back, deep wings and carved cabriole legs…just begging to be sat upon.  Some features of this gorgeous piece include:

  • It is hand finished in a brushed, weathered grey that lends the look of genteel aged patina, perfect for the garden.
  • Teak will continue to weather to a deeper silvery grey with exposure to the elements.
  • Lofty, zippered and poly-filled seat and back cushions come in a choice Sunbrella fabrics that are resistant to mildew, stains and fading.
